Hi friends!
Today I wanted to share with you a wedding I will never forget. A beautiful rustic Alabama wedding. My dear friends Ashley and Clay said I do in a venue they absolutely adored a little over a year after Clay surprised Ashely with the most romantic surprise proposal.
This Alabama wedding, in particular, is very dear to me because the bride and I go way back. Like…. all the way to preschool – way back! For as long as I can remember Ashley has always been there. What started as a close friendship with my sister quickly became one of mine also. I love Ashley to pieces so when she told me they set a date for the wedding and wanted me to photograph it, I was over the moon with joy!
Clay came into the picture about four or five years ago. I remember the first time I ever met him was at a wedding I was photographing, Ashley happened to be a bridesmaid. She introduced him as her boyfriend and the very first thing out of my mouth was, “wow you have the bluest eyes!” Clay truly completes Ashley, you’d know by just being around them.
Ashley and Clay chose navy blue, burgundy, white, and greenery as their color scheme. She had her bridesmaids wear burgundy and her matron of honor wear navy blue. Clay wore a blue suit jacket and blue jeans to keep with the rustic vibes, probably more for comfort.
They chose to get married at a beautiful barn converted into a wedding venue located in Heflin, Alabama. The owners of the venue completely redid the inside of the main house as a full bridal suite for all the girls to get ready. And it was STUNNING. Ashley truly sparkled in the window light.
After their vows, we captured their bridal party together and then just the two of them all around the property. Clay drove us on a golf cart to the lower part of the property with amazing mountain views. Of course, we had to stop and finish up portraits next to the wedding venue’s grain silo.
The reception was short, sweet, and a whole lot of fun! After a night of dancing, the couple rushed outside to do a sparkler send-off before the rain came in. The entire day really was a dream!
Of course, I had to throw in a picture of my sweet niece with the bride!
To Ashley & Clay,
Thank you for letting me be such a small part of such a perfect day. I know the marriage you two have will be even more beautiful than the wedding. I love you both!
